I am very proud to announce the completion of the Eggplant Casino’s first CD, “Coping with Gravity,” a project three years in the making! To celebrate this momentous occasion, we are playing at Café Du Nord, an absolutely beautiful venue in SF that is just dripping with atmosphere! Pull out your party dresses, feathers and fedoras, it’s going to be that kind of night!

When: Friday, July 10, 2008. Doors 8pm, Show @ 9pm
Where: Café Du Nord, 2170 MARKET STREET SAN FRANCISCO, CA 94114
Who: The Eggplant Casino is opening for the amazing Rosin Coven, the world’s premier Pagan Lounge band. We will also have some very special guests from The Hot Pink Feathers! Woo hoo!
What: Great live music performances and also Black Jack tables staffed by the saltiest dealers this side of the Dead Sea!

Tickets for the event are $14 in advance, and $16 at the door. There’s a big chance this will sell out, so get your tickets in advance!

The money raised by the casino games will go directly to purchasing instruments for the budding music program at the June Jordan School for Equity, the amazing social justice based public school that I have been blessed to teach at for the last 4 years. The music program is being developed by the Music National Service, a federal initiative to provide trained Music educators to public schools around the country in reaction to the disappearing arts and music programs in public education. So the word on the street is the Cabaret is now monthly. Not just odd months. Or even months. Or even every third monthly. Nope. It’s monthly.

The word on the street is that Olive has agreed to run the Cabaret Aubergine on a monthly basis now. It will be held at Amnesia at 8pm.

Greetings folks in internetland. This is the first post to let you know that the House of Love Cabaret has been retooled and relocated. It is now Cabaret Aubergine and will be housed at Amnesia in the Mission district of San Francisco.

Along with the name and location changes comes a few other changes. There will be a house band performing all night. If memory serves me I think the band will be The Eggplant Casino, lead by Olive Mitra.

April 6, 2008 – Final Cabaret

ladies and gentlemen,

the much anticipated final cabaret is upon us. This sunday will be the culmination of 7 years worth of monthly events, a regal enterprise…so lets close it out with style!

Join the HOL on sunday April 6th @ 5pm for pot luck food and drinks.

7pm sharp, the Cabaret will get under way…there are close to 14 performers for the bill and the show will go late into the night be there on time to catch the final rules song ever!

Note for Performers: If you know that you need to be out of there early, please let me know by wednesday, otherwise I’ll be creating the order based on the order with which people have signed up…aka if you talked to me in the last month, youre going on towards the end…please inform me asap if that is an issue to avoid any problems due to the overwhelming number of performers and the scope of the night.

Looking forwrd to closing out a brilliant chapter in my SF history with you! see you sunday!

Do you know who is performing at the March Cabaret?

I think the last Cabaret will be on April 6th. So far that one should have The Jonah Kit, possibly Sean Hayes, and who knows who else. Maybe Olive can get Carvell Wallace to make a cameo performance!

Hey Lovlies!

its the final countdown. The final four of the House of Love Cabaret
begins tonite with a great show featuring two travelling bands from
California Goodridder and PREGNANT, along with a lovely signer
songwriter from Ithaca New York, Megan Keely

and of course your lovely host…

sitting begins at 830 and show @ 845.

Corner of fulton and Lyon in SF. Just look for all the plants, you
cant miss it.
